From the Identd section, click on the word Connect on the left. You now have a drop down list of servers to choose from, but you'll want to add your own server.
Click Edit. You will see this:

Fill it out accordingly:
Description: GoodChatting.com
IRC Server: irc.goodchatting.com
Port(s): 6667
Leave Group and Password blank. Ports should already say 6667, so you can leave that alone. Now, click Add.
Once you've added the server, you can hit OK at the bottom and then click on the connect to server button
. Or you can just hit the Connect to IRC Server button right beneath the drop-down menu.
Once you're connected, you'll see something like this:

By default, a box of channel names will pop up, giving you instant access to over 60 possible channels that you can join. Unfortunately, #chatting isn't one of these. You can type #chatting in the space at the top. Then click ADD and JOIN. This will allow you to join the new channel where many Chatting Online chatters have started to chat. Please feel free to hang around even if no one's there.
Or, if you just want to do stuff on your own, untick the box at the bottom of the list and close the window by clicking on "Close". To join the Chatting channel, simply type the following:
/join #chatting
Hit enter, and you will join the channel, which is where people from the Chatting Online at About.com chatrooms will be chatting. Please feel free to hang around even if no one's there.
See you online!
