So, the first thing you want to do is download the newest copy of mIRC.

Once you've done that and run mIRC, you'll get a screen that looks like this:

The first thing to note is that you do not need to put in your full name and email address. Your full name would be visible, yes, but from what you enter in the email address field, only the username would show up anywhere.

Here's how I would fill out this screen:

So people would see that my nickname of choice is juliebug and my alternate nickname (in case juliebug is taken) is Julie.

If you look below the fields where you entered your info, you'll see that it says Server: EFnet: Random server. Well, that's no good, we need to change that to say GoodChatting.com!
