Thanks to you wonderful, generous people, the GoodChatting.com IRC server will continue on for the next calendar year!

Thank you, so much, from the bottom of my heart. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you have enjoyed our little IRC network enough to help us raise over $400 in just one week. Thanks to you, we’ve managed to recover from an unfortunate, unexpected event regarding our last hosting arrangement and have come roaring back. The network software has been upgraded and the services software has been upgraded, but aside from that, it’s like we were never down.

We couldn’t have done this without you and your amazing kindness and generosity.

While the GoFundMe page has served its purpose, we are still accepting any other donations you may want to make and it’ll all go right towards server hosting fees, but at least there’s no more sense of urgency. We encountered a bump in the road and you guys basically said “hey, that’s cool, let me help out”. You are the true definition of a community and I am so proud and so humbled to be your network admin.

Thank you, everyone who’s donated, for your generosity. We are back up and running with enough cash to keep us going through October, 2013. We’re still at about 50% of our goal thus far, so we’re not done yet, but raising half of our goal in a single weekend has been a huge relief for me.

Anyhow, today (May 5th), I got signed up for a new host, installed a new version of our IRCd and our services and brought our proxy monitor back online, as well as remapping irc.goodchatting.com to the new IP address. (If irc.goodchatting.com doesn’t work for you, try: /server 74.122.156.173)

Aside from the subdomain propogating, which will take a bit of time, everything looks like it’s okay. If it’s not, please tell me! Also, while things look to be steady and stable, if services suddenly vanish or stop working, if the server itself goes down, let me know so I can fix it.

As of about 2:15am ET on Thursday, May 2nd, the GoodChatting.com IRC server has been down. It seems that our host is experiencing connection issues and we do not currently have an estimated time for it to come back up. The best thing we can do is just to sit tight right now.

Fish and I are aware this has happened a couple of times in the last while and I’ll take steps to change hosts if I need to, in order to ensure reliable uptime going forward.
