Hey there, everyone!
Last year, you were extremely kind in helping me to set the server back up after a friend of mine was no longer able to host the server. I asked for $425 to cover hosting fees for the year and you guys came forward with $595, which is outstandingly spectacular.
Having said that, I know we had a bit of instability over the last couple of days but that seems resolved. Still, it seemed as though this was a good time for me to take a look at where we are in terms of finances for the server.
After looking at what’s left from the $595 collected last year, bearing in mind that there were fees from both GoFundMe and PayPal, I’m pleased to say that you have already paid for the server to keep running through September of 2014, for which I am eternally grateful and thankful. Without donations from you, the community, the server would have bitten the dust in May of 2013.
However, as everyone knows, our little server’s busiest time of year is in November, when National Novel Writing Month comes around.
In order to ensure we’re around for November, I’m looking for another ~$100 to cover the costs for October, November and December (taking fees into account). I don’t plan to use GoFundMe again, because paying two sets of administrative fees is silly, but if you find GoodChatting.com to be a worthwhile chatting experience, if you’ve won NaNoWriMo because of BattleJesus, if you’ve made a new friend or twelve while chatting in November, please consider a donation: http://goodchatting.com/html/donate.php
Even small donations help! While it’s only the end of June and we still have some time before we need to panic about the server’s future, now’s the time to think ahead to ensure we’re around for NaNoWriMo 2014.
And if you can’t donate, that’s totally understandable — just please do your best to spread the word that in order to make sure that the server is still around for NaNoWriMo, we could use some help.
Thanks so much for all you’ve done so far and I hope to be able to announce (soon) we’ll be here for November, too.
