This looks like a banner ad, yet it isn't. Not that I have anything against banner ads themselves; it's the lack of thought behind them that truely pisses me off.

Smart advertising works. The jazz-the-monkey-and-win-a-prize crap? Why run that? Once you run scams like that, you as the publisher have broken the trust with the end user. I rarely click on banner ads; I don't believe most were chosen for anything but one reason -- they can pay. In a nutshell, web publishers should choose advertisers of relevance to their users. Do baby formula companies run ads in Playboy? Of course not. Use the damn banner conteniously and users will appreciate it. Once you lose the trust of the end user, you might as well fold up shop.

Is this space for rent? Hell yeah. But, not for just any entity willing to chuck cash at me. This site is a labor of love, not to attempt to line my pockets. Drop me an e-mail at dave@slovotskys-laws.com and we'll talk. If it's something that I either agree with, or think the community would, you've got yourself banner space.
